Aberdeen '83: Once In A Lifetime

This is the story of how Aberdeen ruled the world.

At the end of 1983, Sir Alex Ferguson’s side were statistically the best side on the plant having beaten Real Madrid in the Cup Winners Cup final and then Hamburg in the European Super Cup. It was the culmination of a special journey from also-rans to domestic and European glory.

40-years on and that team remain the last great Aberdeen side. They upset the status quo in Scotland and changed the game for the nation.

It was the springboard for Ferguson who went on to establish his dynasty at Manchester United.
